Discounted Water Heaters
CCEC will provide a 50 Gallon AO Smith Promax water heater to its members for $250.00 (tax included). In an effort to provide one of the safest and most efficient water heaters on the market, the cooperative is subsidizing the cost for members. The water heaters are covered by a 6 year Manufacturers Warranty (for single-family residential applications only). The program is designed for new home construction as well as replacement of faulty existing electric or gas units and also the remote control of the unit should the Cooperative implement a load control program.
Tankless Water Heaters
More and more members have been contacting us about our knowledge of tankless water heaters. Tankless water heaters are becoming more prevalent in today’s society. They have their advantages and disadvantages, as do tank-storage water heaters, and Clinton County Electric Cooperative would like to help you make an informed decision before the purchase and installation of a new or replacement water heating device. Please view this whitepaper by Dr, William R. Hoover about storage water heaters vs. tankless water heaters.
Distributed Generation (Solar Arrays and Wind Turbines)
Environmental concerns and increases in electric rates have caused some members to consider purchasing generation equipment to replace all or a portion of the electricity provided by CCEC. Your electric cooperative encourages member generation of electricity (also known as distributed generation) if it can be done in a safe, inexpensive and environmentally friendly manner. Before members decide to install distributed generation equipment, we encourage them to analyze the cost for return of the investment, and this brochure may help with that analysis. If a member decides to install a solar array, wind turbine, or other distributed generation system, please contact us so we can verify the installation is installed in accordance with Cooperative policies (Policy 126), and we can discuss the feasibility of net metering (Policy 127).
Energy Efficient Construction
Clinton County Electric has a free booklet available to assist them in designing an energy efficient home. The booklet is divided into several sections which explain construction standards and building components that affect efficiency of the structure, Items such as insulation, fireplaces, framing, moisture control, and the amount of window area are discussed. Minimal additional cost is involved to build to the standards and energy savings will be enjoyed for a lifetime. Come by for, or download your free copy before you build. Also, see below for a list of contractors that specialize in home sealing and insulation products.
High-Efficiency Electric Space Conditioning
Our NON-CONTROLLED All Electric Space Conditioning rate is designed to lower your heating and cooling costs. The rate (Rate 25) is available to all members of the Cooperative for residential and commercial space conditioning, during all 12 calendar months. The special rate gives a monthly credit of $7.50 to those with a geothermal heating and cooling system. This rate is also available for air-to-air heat pumps with a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER) of 16 or greater. Please see the bottom of this page for a list of area HVAC contractors that install Geothermal and Air-To-Air Heat pumps. More information on Geothermal Watersource Heat Pumps is also available through the Geothermal Alliance of Illinois.
